Always a forward thinking and fearless artist-run label, not afraid of taking risks, the underground cult imprint URBCOM remains true to its independent vision and resilient as ever. After a decade of producing and releasing recordings by various new unknown and established artists in the crossover post-industrial-breakcore experimental electronic arena URBCOM, over the years, have built up a devoted growing fanbase in the UK and across Europe as well as parts of the US and Japan. Their street-wise limited-edition small-run label, better known to most leftfield genre fans and newcomers alike via their long-standing well-known music-website [ WWW.URBCOM.NET] was first lanched in 97 on-line in conjunction with the short-lived off-shoot underground music print

Starting out above a recording studio off the Liverpool Road, The Angel, London in May 1996 with their first-ever white label 12" release of 500 copies the DIY spirit of URBCOM was born. Instigated primarily for fun and a labour of love it was also an essential channel of release for their own individual band-projects, recordings and concept-artist compilations. Their releases were then promoted and marketed directly to a progressive, modern open-minded worldwide-audience, with the combined exposure and support from numerous music allies, writers, magazines / E-zines, DJ's and pirate-college radioshows around the globe. From the outset URBCOM chose to deviate. It took the bull by the horns and bypassed a cynical, corporate and over-commercialised music industry in favor of running and establishing their own independent music production label enabling them to retain complete creative and artistic control. While still showcasing, encouraging and working with other affiliated artists on the international music-art-club-scene URBCOM remains dedicated to producing new edgy, innovative electronic music that journeys from industrial, IDM, drum & noise to ambient-electro-EBM dance and the avant-garde.

Much less a record label and more a movement, of like minded artists bouncing around new ideas, sound and thoughts, URBCOM are already known veterans within the global-electronic music underground. They continue to attract and introduce an ever-growing pool of newcomers from all corners of the world. After years of dedication to their art and countless promotions on behalf of other artists, allies and networks URBCOM has survived againest all the odds, where most of their contempories have either shut-up shop or lost the plot completely. URBCOM is still very much on a mission operating the label between the UK and the German frontlines. Still hell-bent on infiltrating the mainstream one day soon with their own indivdiual brand of leftfield-experimental industrial electronica.
